Hello everyone from Korea, As I glance at my watch, it shows me that I have been here for seven months already--counting the month I was actually at home of course. That means that I've got only five more to go. Not that I'm disappointed with the assignment, quite the contrary, but being separated from the family is getting old and I become more anxious to return with each phone call, each e-mail, each chat and each photo. Here's a picture--now a couple of months old--of me in Korea. Piper has been showing off for her mommy by smiling and, just recently, by laughing when tickled or pushed in her swing. I wish I were home to see her personality emerging, because I'm sure she's going to be a handful when she gets older. At two months, she's already reaching for things, trying to sit up and able to roll over from her tummy to her back (a fact Jill learned when she went to check on Piper and found her awake and engrossed in a conversation with her bears--cooing away and lying on her back). To stay entertained here, I've been playing video games and downloading movies and music from the internet. High-speed internet is a wonderful thing. While it may take a little time to download a movie, I've managed to see several without having to rent a single one. I've also got the entire season of Star Trek "Enterprise" stored on my hard drives. I've been looking at upgrading the size of the drives for a little while now because this stuff takes so much room, but haven't yet gotten around to ordering them. What I did order recently, was a digital voice recorder. Despite my computer's obvious attributes, I can't seem to get it to record my voice well enough to make bedtime stories for Piper and Jill. The BX didn't have any models except for the mini-tape recorders (but that meant I'd need to buy a player for Piper) or larger, mini-systems designed for Karaoke or mixing. The one I ordered should allow me to make audio recordings that I can transfer to mp3 or CDA format for standard CD players. Stay tuned, you may be hearing my voice on the website since it can be added with little effort. My workcenter is growing. I now have twenty-one technicians to support the systems in my SENIOR YEAR Workcenter. It's a great mission and I have some really talented Airman and NCO technicians. I've also had the opportunity to run into some old faces. Marlon Daniels and Peggy Savage from my days at Schriever are here as well. So, check back here for more information on what's going on in my life. I'll probably add a few things that interest me, like the links below that I'll be moving off the main pages. That way you can surf some of the areas I surf on a regular basis. Take Care, as always, I'll be in touch!

What's up in Korea SSgt's Jones, Madison and Daniels ready the antenna for operation Here's an interesting picture of some of Tim's technicians setting up his brand new Dish500 satellite TV! Actually, I had to send out three technicians to erect the mobile antenna in full IPE (Individual Protective Equipment) during the last exercise here in Korea. Notice the lush foliage. Deep in the heart of summer, these guys are losing about five pounds an hour! So hot, SSgt Madison melted completely away... We're apparently in the middle of typhoon season here now and it's been rainy and humid (less rainy) and hot. The big ugly spiders are everywhere, which is nice, because they're eating a lot of the big ugly bugs I complained about last month. Hey, one of my guys has a digital camera and spent some time taking cool pictures of our arachnid acquaintances so maybe I can get him to e-mail me some so you can see the not-so-little monsters lurking about the base...
Hopefully, I'll get Monty Monitor© back up and running and you can enjoy a few reworked cartoons from my collection of favorites as well as some new stuff I've been doodling during my boring two hour staff meetings... |
